What are your rates for studio time (recording, composition, and production) and how is the time tracked?
Our standard rate for a dedicated engineer and studio time that for now we will specify rates based on our feedback on your music for us to invest, e.g., [R60 per hour], or you can take advantage of our discounted [Specify Package, e.g., Half-Day (4-hour) or Full-Day (8-hour)] package. Time is tracked precisely from your scheduled start time, ensuring you only pay for the valuable hours you use to create and perfect your sound.
Do you offer package deals for mixing and mastering multiple songs (an EP or album)?
Absolutely. We understand the budget requirements for larger projects. We offer bespoke EP and Album Packages with a discounted per-song rate compared to individual single rates. Please contact us with your track count for a detailed, no-obligation quote.
How long is the typical turnaround time for a mix and master?
Our standard turnaround for a single track is typically that for now we will specify rates based on our feedback on your music for us to invest, e.g., [5-7 working days] after receiving your final, properly prepared stems. Album/EP timelines will be specified clearly in your project quote.
What is the difference between mixing and mastering, and do I need both?
Mixing is balancing all the individual instruments and vocals (the ingredients) to create a clear, exciting, stereo song. Then Mastering is the final polish applied to the finished stereo mix (the final dish), optimizing its overall volume, tone, and presence to ensure it sounds cohesive and professional across all playback systems.
What does your mixing/mastering rate include?
Our mixing and mastering rates includes a complete, professional service focused on delivering a polished, release-ready track. This covers detailed balance adjustments, EQ, compression, saturation, and spatial effects to enhance clarity and impact, along with vocal tuning and timing corrections when needed and agreed upon. The rate also includes loudness optimization suitable for streaming platforms, the use of reference tracks to match your desired sound, a set number of revisions to ensure satisfaction, and delivery of high-quality final files. Any additional services—such as extensive vocal production, stem mixing, alternate versions, or rush turnaround—can be added and will always be discussed upfront.
How should I prepare my files (stems) for mixing, and what file format/bit depth do you require?
1. Consolidated: Each track must start from the exact same point (bar 1, beat 1), 2.Clean: Remove any unused audio clips, clicks, pops, or unwanted noise, 3.Bypassed: Turn off (bypass) all processing plugins like EQ, Compression, Reverb, and Delay, 4.Format: Export as uncompressed WAV or AIFF files at the session's original Sample Rate (e.g., 44.1kHz or 48kHz) and 24-bit or 32-bit float depth, 5.Reference always include a stereo reference track of your rough mix so we understand your creative intent.
